Lotus Evora

The Evora will be offered either as a true two-seater or in a 2+2 arrangement. Lotus has
indicated that the rear seats are only suitable for children.
Power will come from a Toyota sourced 3.5-liter V-6 with variable valve timing, tuned to
produce 276 horsepower and 252 lb-ft of torque, and Lotus specs the car at 0-to-60-mph
in less than five seconds and a top speed near 160 mph.
The Evora employs typical Lotus aerodynamics to keep the car planted at high speeds,
including a rear diffuser and spoiler. The Evora rides on Bilstein shocks and Eibach
springs, so performance and handling should still be superb.
Inside there more creature comforts and features than in the Exige and Elise:
air conditioning, leather seating, a tire-pressure monitoring system, a backup camera,
cool blue LED lighting, and a remote garage-door opener.
The car will be equped with an Alpine audio and navigation system with
satellite radio, iPod, and Bluetooth connectivity, and a clever audio equalizer.

The Evora even has a

rear-mounted trunk

that’s designed to fit

a set of golf clubs.

Lotus rounds out the

features list with

anti-lock brakes and

traction and stability

control. Lotus says it

will be another six

months before the

Evora is available for test drives. The Evora will go on sale in spring 2009, starting in Europe, with
only 2000 to be built per year unless demand warrants adding a second shift at the Hethel,
England, plant. We expect them later in 2009 as 2010 models. We are now accepting deposits.

Lotus Elise Eco

Lotus will unveil at the British Motor Show the Eco Elise technology demonstrator, a new project that project promotes a different perspective on “green”, one which does not revolve solely around tailpipe CO2.

The Eco Elise features sustainable materials, hemp, eco wool and sisal have been developed for body panels and trim and, combined with hi-tech water based paint solutions.

A green gear change display has been integrated into the dashboard to promote greener driving as well as a weight reduction programme, illustrating the holistic approach taken. The energy expended to manufacture the car has been evaluated, working to the 3R’s - Reduce, Re-use and Recycle.

The Eco Elise weighs 32 kg (70.5 lbs) less than the standard Elise S, which means that the efficient Elise S engine in the Eco Elise will give higher fuel economy figures and even better performance. No word yet as to whether this car will be imported into the US.

Elise and Elise SC
Pure-driving roadster not for the faint of heart. Many weight-reducing sacrifices
endow it with a rare agility and big performance from its four-cylinder engine. The Lotus
Elise is a two-seat midengine roadster available in one trim level. The interior is understandably spartan,
and thestandard air-conditioning can be deleted to save even more weight. Several options

packages, such as the Touring Package

and Sport Package, offer a bit of

customization. To maximize protection,

a hardtop roof is available as a stand-alone option.

Power for the Lotus Elise comes from a

1.8-liter four- cylinder engine mated to a

six-speed manual transmission. The Toyota

-sourced engine benefits from Lotus-

designed intake and exhaust components

and a tweaked engine controller. The result is a broader power band and an increase in output to
189 hp at 7,800 rpm and 133 pound-feet of torque at 6,800 rpm.

The Elise SC offers the above features adding 215 hp and 156 lb/ft of torque via
an Eaton M45 non-intercooled supercharger.

The powerplant for the Exige is the same highly dependable 1.8 Toyota 2ZZ-GE
motor from the Elise with an Eaton M62 intercooled supercharger developing
